Misty morning at Swifts Creek

My eyes hide behind these lids
to keep on staring into space,
then the sun crawls up my legs
and plants itself upon my face.

It shows how much it gives
by such a travel for a kiss,
that warms the planets at no cost
besides the show of spreading life.

Nature whispers in my ears
and plants a smile in my chest,
civilization steals that peace
and puts my grin to rest.

This body reaches
to the edge of the Earth,
and then coils back
so another day can start.
